The essence of the Upper State Independent Awards show is to acknowledge independent musicians from all genres and backgrounds, showing appreciation for work by independent
musicians, poets, models, designers, comedians, photographers, choreographers, movie makers/DVD, on-line radio shows, and television shows. The awards show is a local networking environment held once a year at the Palace Theatre in Syracuse New York, this year on November 8, 2008.This will be our 2nd Annual Upper State Independent Awards show. We will have special appearances by national professional artists from Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, California, Las Vegas, Ohio, and much more. This year we are working to obtain an international artist to perform and endorse the award show.
The USI Awards committee’s mission is to raise awareness about the talented individuals that surround us. Our way of promoting this year is our television shows, special appearances on other TV shows, radio commercial/radio interviews, word of mouth, bus wraps, CDs from the first award show, billboards, t-shirts, brochures, fliers, and websites. The New Times newspaper compared the Upper State Independent Awards Show to the Sammys. We are like the Sammys because we both promote and celebrate music, but we are different because we acknowledge more than music, as you have read above. We are more diverse in our awards selections, as well as engaging in more entertainment elements for the community.
The Upper State Independent Awards Show is sponsored by businesses and organizations from the Syracuse area. About half of the audience is from Syracuse. The musicians, a few volunteers, and a few sponsors are from the regional area. In conclusion, the Upper State Independent Awards Show is a wonderful environment to network with independent talented professional business individuals. You also get to enjoy genres of music and an eye-catching fun fashion show. You don’t want to miss it! Hope to see you there!
